A few weeks ago, members of San Miguel de Allende’s real estate community gathered for an important occasion: the swearing-in of the 2026 Board of Directors of AMPI, the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals. The evening began with the traditional Honors to the Mexican Flag, setting a respectful tone for the event. This was followed by the presentation of the Presidium, which included leaders from both the national AMPI organization and our local professional community.

Among them were Mtro. Nay Elías Villegas Rodríguez, Vice President of Finance and Treasury of AMPI México; Alejandra Cortés Ávila, Regional Coordinator No. 12; Erwit Reichert Machorro, President of AMPI San Miguel de Allende for 2026; Martín Martínez, President of the Notaries of San Miguel de Allende and Notary Public No. 6; and José Martín Barroso Cervantes, former President of AMPI San Miguel.

During the ceremony, the outgoing president shared reflections on the past year. Shortly afterward came the central moment of the evening: the official oath and swearing-in of the new president and his board of directors. Several speakers emphasized a key idea that deserves attention: the importance of professionalization in the real estate industry. In a city like San Miguel—where the market attracts buyers from across México and around the world—professionalstandards are essential.

This is where AMPI plays a crucial role. For real estate professionals, it provides a framework of ethics, education, and collaboration that ultimately benefits everyone involved in a transaction. As Lic. Martín Martínez, President of the local Notaries Association, expressed during the event, he recognized and congratulated AMPI members for helping make real estate transactions more efficient and transparent. The presence of several local notaries and prominent developers also demonstrated the strong institutional support behind AMPI and its members. In the end, what events like this represent is simple but important: a community of professionals committed to doing things the right way—working together to provide certainty, trust, and professionalism in every real estate transaction. And that benefits all of us.
