As Lady Zen’s birthday approaches over the Mother’s Day weekend—on May 9th—a heartfelt tradition will unfold. Each year, she celebrates by hosting a special Mother’s Day concert. This event is not just another performance—it is a deeply personal way to honor her own journey, which began as an orphan, and to give back to the community.
This year’s concert carries extraordinary purpose: all proceeds go directly to creating a sewing and tailoring studio designed to empower young mothers and orphans with valuable skills. In partnership with St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Padre Rangel, and designer Sergio Cejudo, the studio will offer free workshops in sewing, tailoring, design, and pattern‑making. Six new sewing machines—including one for leatherwork—will be introduced to students, while the studio will also serve as a tailoring hub for repairs, alterations, production, and custom designs.
Lady Zen’s commitment to service is well known. Recently featured in Kate Van Doren’s Healing Words Project,(www.healingwordsproject.com). She has raised funds for organizations such as EEESMA, Casita Linda, the Red Cross, Patronato Pro Niños, local orphanages, educational programs, and networks for animal welfare. This year, her focus to help launch this new program..Â
The outpouring of support has already been overwhelming. Friends near and far have purchased tickets so orphans may attend, donated fabric for designs, and contributed funds for three new machines. Even those unable to be present in person can contribute by purchasing tickets. Tickets are available online at www.THELADYZEN.COM. Lady Zen has expressed heartfelt thanks, calling this the best birthday yet because of the love and kindness surrounding it.
The evening promises unforgettable artistry. Lady Zen’s signature blend of gospel and storytelling will be joined by guest vocalists Bex BellaVox, Allain Arroyo, and Johnny Favorite. A bilingual Mother’s Day poem will add a special touch. And in collaboration with Sergio Cejudo—star of the 2025 Wear San Miguel fashion parade and visionary behind Denim and Manta—a new meditation clothing line crafted from fine Mexican cotton will be unveiled.
This is not just a performance; it is a gathering of hearts. Music will lift spirits, stories will resonate, and the collective energy will remind us all of the power of art to heal, inspire, and connect.
