Between Goodbye and Hello: From The Publisher

The March Atención News is dedicated to a man who helped shape this newspaper from its earliest days—Bill Wilson, our Deputy Editor. As he often said, his veins ran with newsprint ink. After reading his obituary on page 26 and 27, you will understand why. Through his vast networks and generous spirit, Bill touched countless lives. He will be deeply missed. Goodbye, dear friend.

March is a "season" of both goodbyes and hellos—farewell to winter and whatever that may symbolize in our lives, and welcome to spring with its promise of renewal, growth, and recommitment. The Spring Equinox on March 20^th officially ushers in longer days and the opportunities that come with change.

It is a moment to pause, reflect, and realign with what truly matters. In that quiet turning, we often find the clarity to move forward with purpose.

As you turn these pages I invite you to note the optimism and ensuing actions being made all over San Miguel de Allende.  Susan Knight York has captured the incredible growth, creativity and optimism of our one-in-a-million restaurant community, putting San Miguel on par with great food destinations of the world. In honor of Bill Wilson’s work with the Atención News,  Deputy Publisher Frank Sugar Hudson will continue Bill’s ‘As Eye See It’ column and this month provides an at-a-glance of March’s festivals and holidays on page 56. In this spirit of transition, we are reminded that community is built not only by institutions, but by people—those who show up, contribute generously, and believe in the power of shared stories.

Bill Wilson understood this well, as do the many voices that continue to shape these pages. This edition stands as both tribute and testament: to continuity, collaboration, and the enduring role of local journalism.
