On April 1st, 2025, Mitigare’s Hospice and Palliative Care Center opened its doors in San Miguel de Allende, marking a significant milestone for compassionate care in our community.
Just days earlier, on March 29th, friends, supporters, and partners gathered to celebrate the grand opening—an occasion made even more meaningful by the journey that began on November 27, 2023, when the first stone was laid in the presence of Mayor Mauricio Trejo.
In the year since, the Center has become a place of comfort, dignity, and support for individuals and families facing life-limiting illness. Through hospice and palliative care services, as well as grief counseling and emotional support programs, our team has walked alongside patients both within its residence and in their homes, offering care that honors each person’s unique journey.
Among the many stories that define this first year is that of Grace Pardo, who, in memory of her husband Jerry—our first patient—generously donated a room at the Center. In her words: “In the hardest moments, Mitigare gave us peace… and gave Jerry a compassionate, dignified goodbye.” Her tribute reflects the heart of what this work is all about.
The Center has also embraced its role as a community resource. In August, a Community Health Fair welcomed more than 120 neighbors, providing over 1,530 individual consultations, including a range of preventive screenings, vaccinations, and psychological support services.
Ongoing initiatives, such as reading circles and art therapy classes continue to offer meaningful ways for individuals to process grief and find connection.
The doors are open—come visit, take a tour, and see how compassionate care is making a difference in our community.
The Center is located at Prolongación Cuesta de San José #93, Fraccionamiento El Paraíso (near the turn-off for the Charco del Ingenio Botanical Garden). Learn more at mitigare.org.
