After a four-year hiatus, TEDxSanMiguelDeAllende will return on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at La Casona, bringing together the community to explore one of the defining questions of our time: How do we navigate a future arriving faster than ever before? This year's theme, Umbral del Futuro - Threshold of the Future, reflects a moment unlike any other. Artificial intelligence is changing how we work. Breakthroughs in medicine are extending and improving lives. New technologies are reshaping communication, creativity, education, and business.

The future is no longer a distant concept. It is unfolding now, shaped by the choices individuals, organizations, and communities make every day.

Klaudia Oliver, curator and TEDx licensee of TEDxSanMiguelDeAllende, describes this year's theme this way: "The image of a threshold captures this moment perfectly. A threshold is more than a doorway; it is the place where one chapter ends and another begins—a place of uncertainty, possibility, and discovery. Crossing a threshold requires curiosity, courage, and a willingness to imagine what comes next."

Those qualities have always been at the heart of TEDx. Since the inaugural TEDxSanMiguelDeAllende in 2010, the event has become known not only for compelling speakers but also for the conversations it inspires. While the talks themselves are carefully crafted to communicate "ideas worth spreading," much of the event's lasting impact happens after the applause. Friendships begin over coffee. Collaborations emerge during intermission. Strangers discover shared passions. A single idea can lead to a new project, a new partnership, or even a new direction in life.

That spirit of connection makes San Miguel de Allende an especially fitting home for TEDx.

For generations, the city has attracted artists, entrepreneurs, educators, scientists, designers, business leaders, and lifelong learners from around the world. Few places combine such a rich Mexican cultural heritage with such an active international exchange of ideas. It is a place where creativity and curiosity are part of everyday life, making it an ideal setting for conversations about the future. This year's program will feature approximately ten to twelve multidisciplinary speakers whose presentations are designed to challenge assumptions, expand perspectives, and inspire thoughtful action. While the speaker lineup will be announced in the coming weeks, the event will feature a diverse range of voices representing different fields, experiences, and ways of thinking.

As with every TEDx event, the goal is not to provide simple answers to complex questions. Instead, the talks are intended to spark curiosity, encourage meaningful dialogue, and invite audiences to consider new possibilities. Whether the subject is emerging technology, science, creativity, leadership, education, health, sustainability, or human potential, each presentation aims to leave attendees seeing the world just a little differently than they did before. Periods of rapid change often create uncertainty, but they also create extraordinary opportunities. History shows that the communities best prepared for the future are those willing to ask thoughtful questions, listen to diverse perspectives, and embrace lifelong learning. TEDxSanMiguelDeAllende seeks to create exactly that kind of environment—one where ideas can be explored openly and where meaningful conversations continue long after the event concludes.

The return of TEDx represents something larger than the event itself. It is a celebration of curiosity, optimism, and the belief that communities grow stronger when people from different backgrounds come together to share knowledge and experience. In a world that often feels increasingly divided, creating spaces for thoughtful dialogue has never been more important.

Whether people attend to be inspired, challenged, or simply curious, TEDxSanMiguelDeAllende offers an opportunity to spend an afternoon exploring the ideas, innovations, and people helping shape the world ahead.

At its best, TEDx reminds us that the future is not something we simply wait for. It is something we create—one conversation, one idea, and one connection at a time.

The invitation is open to everyone.
