San Miguel de Allende has long been a haven for thinkers, artists, and those drawn to meaningful conversation. Its blend of heritage, contemporary creativity, and openness to global ideas makes it the ideal home for TEDxCalle Aldama, returning this year under the theme“Symphonies for the Future.” More than an event, it is becoming one of the city’s defining cultural experiences—an intersection where imagination, art, and human insight meet.
At the center of this gathering is Hotel Matilda, a contemporary landmark known for its commitment to bold artistic expression. Its intimate, design-forward setting provides the ideal atmosphere for an event where dialogue can unfold naturally and inspiration feels almost built into the architecture.
A Vision Built on Genuine Human Connection
For curator and director Julio Cambrón, TEDxCalle Aldama is meant to feel personal. The intention is not just to present ideas, but to create a setting where people let their guard down—where conversations spill into gardens, hallways, and quiet corners.
“What I value most is when people truly connect,” Cambrón explains. “When the environment encourages curiosity, openness, and a sense of belonging.”
In San Miguel, that feeling is second nature. The city has a cultural warmth that invites openness. It is a place where people speak honestly, listen generously, and treat vulnerability as a natural part of intelligent dialogue.
Art as a Pathway Into Tomorrow
A highlight of this year’s edition is an immersive art installation, created for TEDxCalle Aldama by Bobbi Van, Lon Levin, and Marvin Berk, opening January 4th, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., with daily viewing to February 10th, 2026. These three artists—each with a distinct voice—explore the evolving conversation between humanity, nature, and emerging technologies.
Attendees first encounter the artists individually through their solo works, each offering a private window into their creative thinking. These pieces then lead into a collaborative installation, where intuition, experimentation, and new tools—including artificial intelligence—merge into an abstract, multi-layered reflection of the theme “Symphonies for the Future.” Van, who has curated and facilitated Tedx Salons in New York for six years says, “The beauty is in the collaboration…in discovering how our individual perspectives can merge without losing their essence.”
The installation stands as both anchor and invitation—encouraging attendees to reflect on how the future might sound when shaped collectively.
Talks Designed to Inspire Deep Reflection
This year, the TEDxCalle Aldama stage will feature a total of 11 speakers, each selected for the originality and impact of their ideas. Cambrón works closely with every participant to refine not only their message but the emotional experience behind it.The focus is always on clarity, resonance, and authenticity—not on length.
Music plays an important role as well. The day begins with Operissima Opera Studio, setting a tone of elegance and emotional depth.
And later, soprano Gabriela Perales Betancourt—whose voice blends strength with tenderness—will offer a special performance during the exclusive VIP dinner. This dinner, available only to VIP ticket holders, takes place at the acclaimed Moxi Restaurant, adding another experiential layer to the event. Her performance promises to be a moment of reflection and inspiration, enriching an evening designed for deeper connection with speakers and fellow attendees.
A Gathering With Global Reach and Local Soul
TEDxCalle Aldama is part of a vast global movement of independently organized TEDx events, yet it remains unmistakably rooted in the spirit of San Miguel. The city’s blend of cultures, its artistic heritage, and its openness to new perspectives give the event a tone that feels both intimate and expansive.
