Locos, Legends, Local Flavor: From The Publisher

In a month defined by the Los Locos festivities, we give special thanks to People of San Miguel columnist Natalie Taylor for sharing the history of Los Locos leading up to today’s festival.

Also featured on the front cover is food writer Susan Knight York. With 4.3 million followers on her blog, she graces our pages with a story about Donnie, noting, “He has done so much to promote and build the gastronomy scene in San Miguel. After 14 years of writing about him, I am in awe… It’s not a chef thing or a restaurant thing with him; it’s a San Miguel thing, and to me, nothing is sweeter.”

Donnie’s devotion to the municipality is undeniable; he literally has San Miguel de Allende tattooed on his skin. His culinary journey is a love letter to the local culture, transforming regional ingredients into an international art form that keeps San Miguel on the global map.

In fact, all of our stories are about “a San Miguel thing,” and as publisher, nothing is sweeter to me either. It is always with great pride in our writers—whose focus is exploring the people and places that shape San Miguel today—that we present this June edition.

In this issue, we also introduce 13-year-old Liam Stidham, who gives us a peek into the town's young musician scene. From afternoons at wineries and stunning architecture to México’s presentation of chocolate to the world and the upcoming World Cup, I am certain you will appreciate these stories. Each page of this issue serves as a reminder of the rich mosaic of talent that surrounds us. It is the collective passion of our neighbors that transforms these printed words into a living history of our home. We are incredibly fortunate to share in this shared vision month after month. This lively edition is only possible thanks to our volunteer writers, who truly embody the community spirit we celebrate.

We also extend our deepest gratitude to our advertisers, whose stories of essential services, education, and real estate continue to fuel the city's economy.
