Celebrating One Year of Stories and Local Spirit: September Highlights From The Publisher

Happy one-year anniversary to Atención News! We are so excited to celebrate a full year of bringing you the stories, faces, and rich traditions that make San Miguel de Allende such a special place to live and visit.

None of this would be possible without our wonderful community, and we extend a special, heartfelt thank you to our local advertisers for their continued support, alongside our passionate volunteer writers who lend their pens and voices, and our hardworking sales, production and distribution teams who bring every issue to life.

In this special September edition, we take a deep dive into local history with Natalie Taylor as she explores the 200-year bicentennial of our town being renamed in honor of Independence hero Ignacio Allende, tracing his revolutionary journey alongside Miguel Hidalgo from secret conspiratorial meetings in Centro to the iconic Grito de Dolores.

We are also proud to highlight the impactful work of our local NGOs, including the San Miguel Community Foundation celebrating 50 years of giving back to our region, and Amigos de Animales reaching an important milestone. Alongside those inspiring initiatives, we introduce you to community champions like Francois Yohalem and her work with Amigos del Ballet Folklórico, spotlight artist Carmen Jiménez and her stunning sculptures, take a peek into local winemaking at Puente Josefa Winery, and Isabel Calderón's  exploration of the fascinating craftsmanship behind the traditional Sombrero Charro.
